SALT LAKE CITY--

With the latest class of draft picks and free agents, the ranks of former Utes on active NFL rosters has swelled to 35. Highlighting Utah's latest NFL class are draft picks Star Lotulelei and Joe Kruger.

Lotulelei, an All-America defensive tackle, was the first-round selection of the Carolina Panthers, who claimed him with the 14th overall pick. Lotulelei became the seventh ever Ute first-round draft pick and the fourth-highest overall pick.

Two days later, defensive end Joe Kruger went to the Philadelphia Eagles in the seventh round as the 212th overall pick. Kruger, who bypassed his senior year at Utah to enter the draft, was the sixth player selected in the seventh round.

Ten other members of the 2012 senior class have signed free agent contracts: OL Sam Brenner (Miami Dolphins), WR DeVonte Christopher (Washington Redskins), WR/KR Reggie Dunn (Pittsburgh Steelers), DL Dave Kruger (Cleveland Browns), DB Ryan Lacy (New Orleans Saints), DB Moe Lee (Baltimore Ravens), TE David Rolf (San Diego Chargers), P Sean Sellwood (Atlanta Falcons), OL Tevita Stevens (Washington Redskins) and DB Reggie Topps (Arizona Cardinals), DL.

Several NFL teams have multiple Utes on their current rosters, led by the Miami Dolphins with five: Paul Soliai, Koa Misi, R.J. Stanford, Derrick Shelby and Sam Brenner. Next with three Utes are Carolina (Steve Smith, Jordan Gross and Star Lotulelei) and Baltimore (Ma'ake Kemoeatu, David Reed and Moe Lee).

Signing a contract with the Edmonton Eskimos of the Canadian Football League was running back John White.
