Practice Summary ...
? Utah was in shorts and shoulder pads on Friday for a practice to prepare for its road matchup at Oregon State (Oct. 16 at 7 p.m. PT / Fox Sports 2). Touching a ball carrier was enough to bring them down during a workout held at the Eccles Center Practice Facility.
? The Utes continued to get ready for their matchup at Oregon State by focusing on assignments and techniques in each phase of the game they will need at Oregon State.
Practice Highlights ...
? Media viewing (final 20 minutes) began with a 7-on-7 scrimmaging. while the offensive and defensive lines went through 1-on-1 drills.
? In the final segment, full-team live work with the first and second units rotating for two series apiece, started in the red zone.
From Coach Whittingham ...
? The team did some good work today with a lot of energy and tempo, but still need the next two days to complete preparing for the Oregon State. ? Indicated that junior linebacker Jacoby Hale is improving physically each day and doing more. He's making good progress and is a good, explosive player. We're excited about getting him back eventually. ? Said Oregon State has a good 1-2 punch in the run game. It will be an interesting matchup. ? The Beavers consistently use max protection schemes in the passing game so it will be a challenge for the defense. ? OSU quarterback Sean Mannion is a prototypical NFL quarterback.
