Keep checking UtahUtes.com all season for a behind-the-scenes look at some of the University of Utah football team's preparations. The Utes continued to prepare for their matchup against No. 15/13 Arizona on Tuesday at the Eccles Center Practice Facility.
Practice Summary ...
? Utah was in full pads on Tuesday for its first on-field practice in preparation to face No. 15/13 Arizona (Nov. 22 at 1:30 p.m. MDT / ESPN). Touching a ball carrier was enough to bring them down during a workout held at the Eccles Center Practice Facility.
? The Utes continued to get ready for their matchup against No. 15/13 Arizona by concentrating on the assignments and techniques of each phase of the game they will need to face the Wildcats.
Practice Highlights ...
? Media viewing (final 20 minutes) began with 7-on-7 drills facing south while the offensive and defensive linemen went through their respective assignments.
? The next period of practice saw two sets of wide receivers and defensive backs go 1-on-1 with quarterbacks throwing facing no pass rush, while the interior linemen faced off in 1-on-1 drills as well.
? Practice concluded with full-team special teams work.
From Coach Whittingham ...
? Is looking forward to facing Arizona, who has a balanced offense with a quarterback who is playing exceptionally well as well as two or three quality running backs. ? The Wildcat defense has two or three exceptional tacklers. ? His team is not worried about postseason yet. They are just concentrating on themselves because they know everything else will work itself out. ? Did not remember that his first win as head coach at Utah was against Arizona because he "is not a sentimental guy." ? The offensive line is doing good things and he is looking forward to next season when all five return and can make even more progress together.
Post-Practice Impressions from the Utes ...
Safeties Coach Morgan Scalley
? Looking to freshmen to step in.
? Andre Godfrey and Marcus Sanders-Williams are playing with more confidence and he is pleased with how they are playing.
#PrepareU Extras ...
? Utah returned to No. 17 in the College Football Playoff rankings.
? Rock music from the 1980's once again blared from the speakers set up at the Eccles Practice Facility as "Panama" by Van Halen was a memorable selection.
