Keep checking UtahUtes.com all season for a behind-the-scenes look at some of the University of Utah football team's preparations.
? The Utes were in helmets, shorts, and shoulder pads on Wednesday for the team's last practice in Salt Lake City before heading to Ann Arbor for the Michigan game (Saturday at 1:30 p.m. MT / ABC or ESPN2). The workout was held at Eccles Football Center Practice Field. Runners were downed at the first touch.
Practice Highlights ...
? The media viewing period (final 20 minutes) started with special teams work.
? Utah then worked through 7-on-7 training, while the linemen went through 1-on-1, half-line drills.
? The workout continued as the wide receivers worked with the quarterbacks 'on air' before another round of special teams work. ? Practice concluded with full-team live work as the first-team offense faced the second-team defense and vice versa in a pair of drives.
From Coach Whittingham ...
? Utah Head Coach Kyle Whittingham said his team made a lot of progress since the Fresno State game, during the bye week and into the week heading into the Michigan game.
? The offense went into the adjacent Eccles Fieldhouse and went through drills indoors with music blaring to simulate crowd noise of Michigan Stadium.
? The offensive play calling is designed to operate with signals in order to be efficient in crowd noise.
? Utah should be rested after a light work load last week along with the previous weekend off.
? He said he liked having all non-conference games up front in the beginning of this season with a nine-game conference schedule. If there was an eight-game conference schedule, he could see the value of having a non-conference game later in the season.
Post-Practice Impressions from the Ute Players ...
Defensive Tackle Clint Shepard
? Shepard said that Utah has had a solid defensive tackle for a long time and looked up to last year's seniors, but is enjoying stepping up and filling their shoes this season.
Wide Receiver Dres Anderson
? Anderson said the bye week has been great and given Utah a chance to perfect everything. ? He said he was eager to open some eyes in Michigan Stadium on Saturday and get 'on the radar.'
#PrepareU Extras ...
? Coach Whittingham indicated that he did not even look at the 2015 Pac-12 Conference schedule that was released last night.
