SALT LAKE CITY - Utah junior defensive end Hunter Dimick and sophomore safety Marcus Williams have been selected to the Academic All-District football first team, announced today by the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA).
Dimick and Williams will be placed on the national ballot for Academic All-America honors.
Dimick, a communication major with a 3.30 grade point average, is tied for third on the team with 6.0 tackles for loss. He has 13 total tackles, 2.0 sacks and two pass breakups in five games played. Dimick was a second-team Pac-12 All-Academic selection as well as honorable mention All-Pac-12 last season.
Williams, who has a 3.72 grade point average, has not yet declared a major. He leads the Pac-12 in interceptions (4) and interceptions per game (0.50), while ranking in the nation's top 20 in both categories. He has five passes defended (4 interceptions, 1 pass breakup), 43 tackles (1.0 TFL) and a fumble recovery.
Individuals are selected through voting by CoSIDA, a 2,000-member organization consisting of sports public relations professionals for colleges and universities in the United States and Canada.
