SALT LAKE CITY - The University of Utah football team started its second week of spring practice with its fourth of 15 on-field workouts Tuesday afternoon at Rice-Eccles Stadium. UtahUtes.com will provide a behind-the-scenes look during the Utes' spring practices.
Practice Summary ...
? Utah was in full pads for its first on-field practice of the second week of spring practice. Wrapping up a ball carrier was enough to bring them during the first 19 periods of the workout until live scrimmaging closed practice.
? The Utes began the last hour with special teams work.
? A 7-on-7 drill on the defense's 45-yard line was next up, while the lineman went through 1-on-1 drills in the south end of the stadium.
? Full-team work from midfield was next up.
? A full-team live scrimmage with live tackling began with drives starting from the defense's 45-yard line.
? Two-minute drills for the first, second and third units concluded practice.

? Quarterback Travis Wilson wore a white jersey signifying he was not be contacted because he is a proven commodity.
? Quarterback Brandon Cox is a dual-threat who is capable with his throwing arm and feet.
? It was apparent that the defense is a seasoned group that has a lot of playmakers.
Post-Practice Impressions from the Utes ...
Defensive Coordinator John Pease
? Very comfortable with his two-deep in the interior if they keep progressing.
? Impressed with Kylie Fitts' progress. Very smart player.
? Villseni Fauonuku is quick in his pass rush and will pick up more of a leadership role among the interior line.
? Discussed the importance of communication among his defense.
