HOW THE GAME IS PLAYED
The Red-White game will feature 10-minute quarters with a standard clock in the first half and a running clock in the second half. There will be an eight-minute halftime ... There will be no punt returns or kickoff returns ... Kickoffs will be placed at the 35-yard line and punts will be marked at the spot of the fair catch ... After a score of any type, if the scoring team is behind by more than 10 points, it will retain possession of the ball.
IN THE HUDDLE
The players were drafted by the coaches of their respective teams ... The head coach of the Red team will be tight ends coach Lewis Powell and the head coach of the White team will be linebacker coach Justin Ena ... Red team assistant coaches are John Pease, Sharrieff Shah, Aaron Roderick and Dennis Erickson ... White team assistant coaches are Morgan Scalley, Jim Harding and Taylor Stubblefield ... Some players, mostly offensive linemen, will wear black jerseys to indicate they are playing for both teams ... While Alani Havili-Katoa is still considered a defensive lineman, he will play on the offensive line (where he has been experimenting this spring) in the Red-White game.
HONORARY COACHES
Two U. faculty members will serve as this year's Red-White game honorary head coaches: Dr. Richard J. Ingebretsen will serve as co-head coach of the Red team and George W. "Buzz" Welch will act in the same capacity for the White team. Ingebretsen is the Associate Dean of Student Affairs in the College of Science at the University of Utah, a clinical instructor of medicine and a professor in the Department of Physics. Welch directs the Ivory Boyer Real Estate Center in the Department of Finance for the Eccles School of Business.
