SALT LAKE CITY - The University of Utah football team continued the third week of its spring practice on Thursday with the eighth of 15 on-field workouts at the Eccles Football Center. UtahUtes.com will provide a behind-the-scenes look during each of the Utes' spring practices.
Practice Summary ...
? Utah was in helmets, shoulder pads and shorts for its eighth practice of the spring during a sunny afternoon at the Eccles Football Center.
? Periods 15-22, approximately the final 45 minutes, of practice began with 7-on-7 work from a spacer at the offense's own 40-yard line.
? The Utes then worked on special teams on both ends of the field.
? Utah then went through full-team work with the first and second units rotating series.
? Bubba Poole made an impressive one-handed catch before Andy Phillips nailed a 39-yard field goal.
? The live work then moved to the red-zone for the offense from the 20 and 12-yard lines.
? Highlights included:
- Defensive tackle Hayden Clegg knocked down a pass.
- Tani Leha'uli scored on a touchdown run.
- Tight end Siale Fakailoatonga got one foot down for an impressive catch in the back of the end zone, but was ruled out of bounds.
- Wide receiver Delshawn McClellon made an impressive catch in the end zone that was disputed.
? Practice ended with two-minute drills for each unit.
From Coach Whittingham ...
? Felt good about today's practice.
? Linebacker Gionni Paul was limited in practice today. He took some reps and is making strides, but remains a very important with his leadership and energy.
? Travis Wilson has been confident during spring ball, being decisive in his reads. This is the best he has played.
? Devontae Booker is a huge luxury and the running game will remain productive if he remains healthy and the offensive line continues to progress.

? Good practice today with a lot of enthusiasm.
? Devontae Booker is working hard and getting his share of reps and improving in pass protection.
? Laha'uli taking advantage of increased reps and may have a chance for playing time with his physical style.
? Depth of entire team has improved since joining Pac-12.

? Andy Phillips made a field goal at the end of practice to save the entire team from extra laps.
