The Utah football team kicks off its 11th preseason camp under the direction of head coach Kyle Whittingham on Thursday, Aug. 6 with the first of 29 practices leading up to the 2015 opener against Michigan on Sept. 3. The camp itself will feature 20 practices from Aug. 6-22-the first five without pads per the NCAA-mandated "acclimatization" period. When school starts on Aug. 24, the Utes will hold another nine practices prior to the first game. Practices and scrimmages are closed to the public throughout fall camp and the season.

Two-Minute Drill
The fall camp roster is capped at 105 players. The first day of practice will feature 77 scholarship players and 28 walk-ons on the "105." The roster will likely expand to around 115-120 players after school starts … There are five "two-a-days" on the camp schedule: Aug. 12, 14, 17, 19 and 21 … Two scrimmages will be held (Aug. 13 and 18).
Inside the Huddle
The Utes return 17 starters (7 offense, 8 defense, 2 kickers) … Incoming junior college transfer Cory Butler, who signed as a defensive back, will open camp as a wide receiver, while freshman Caleb Repp, initially projected as a defensive end, will play tight end … Clocking the fastest 40 times in summer conditioning were receiver Delshawn McClellon (4.37 seconds), running back Joe Williams (4.38) and cornerback Justin Thomas (4.40) … Four key seniors are returning from injuries that ended their season prematurely a year ago: safety Tevin Carter, linebacker Gionni Paul, receiver Tim Patrick and quarterback Kendal Thompson. Carter, Paul and Patrick are all projected starters, while Thompson-the No. 2 QB-is expected to compete for the starting job.
Records & Rewards

Wilson is already second in school history in both career quarterback starts (27) and games played (34) behind Brian Johnson (33 starts in three seasons and 44 games played in four seasons from 2004-08) … Three first-team All-Pac-12 selections return: senior running back Devontae Booker, senior punter Tom Hackett and junior kicker Andy Phillips … Hackett, a consensus All-American last year, became the first Ray Guy Award winner in school and Pac-12 Conference history … Eight Utes were named to preseason watch lists.
