- First Round Results TUCSON, Ariz. - The Utah men's golf team carded a 14-over par, (298) on Friday and currently sits in tenth place after one round of play at the Arizona Intercollegiate, which is being held at the Sewailo Golf Club.
Utah heads into the second round of play 21 strokes behind Washington, who leads the tournament with a first-round score of 7-under par (277). Tournament host, Arizona, is in a tie for fourth after shooting a first-round score of 8-over par (292).
Texas (E) is in second-place, New Mexico (+6) follows in third, while California (+8) is tied with Arizona in fourth-place. In sixth-place is Washington State (+10), followed by UTEP (+12), with New Mexico State (+13) and BYU (+13) tied for eighth-place just ahead of the Utes.
Iowa State (+20), CSU-Fullerton (+21), Santa Clara (+23), Southern Illinois (+25), South Dakota State (+28), Denver (+31) and Tulsa (+34) rounded out the team standings on Friday.
Senior Jose Pelayo leads Utah after the first-round of play carding a score of 1-over par (72). Pelayo currently sits in a tie for tenth-place. Gentry Hicks is in a tie for 25th-place after shooting a 3-over par (74).
Jonathon Thomas carded a score of 4-over (75) and sits in a tie for 35th-place. Brandon Kida is in a tie for 52nd-place with a score of 6-over par (77).
Rounding out team play for the Utes on Friday was freshman Trent Hill who is in a tie for 62nd-place after carding 9-over par (80).
