BOISE, Idaho - Utah Men's Tennis kept moving forward at the Dar Walters Fall Classic as
Santiago Sierra and
Azat Hankuliyev each reached their respective semifinals and the Ute duo of Sierra and
Dan Little also advanced to the round of four.
Sierra beat Felipe Fonseca of Idaho, 6-4, 6-2 to get the day underway in the "A" singles bracket. He then topped Jake Sullivan of BYU and will advance to play No. 3 seed Nathan Boniel of Portland State in the semifinals at 8:30 a.m.
In the consolation bracket of the "A" singles matchups, Hankuliyev came away with a victory over Stefan Cooper of Weber State before knocking off Ethan Lopez of Portland State, 6-3, 6-3. He is now slated to play Kellen Bates of Montana State in the consolation semifinal at 8:30 a.m.
In doubles action, Sierra and Little started with a win over Locas Coutinho and Estebam Santibanez of Idaho, 7-5. The Utes then earned a quarterfinal victory over Alex Canellopoulos and Yannic Schimdl of Montana by the same margin. Utah's No. 3-seeded pair now face Alex Flink and Rok Sitar of Montana State at 1 p.m. tomorrow.
Little lost his singles matchup to Sam Serrano of Utah State, 6-3, 7-5.
