MORAGA, Calif. – The University of Utah women's basketball team defeated Saint Mary's College 63-62 in the final game of the Hilton Concord Classic on the campus of Saint Mary's College.
"Saint Mary's is a really good team and we were very fortunate to win as we didn't shoot well today," head coach
Lynne Roberts said about her undefeated Utes. "It was an ugly game by both teams and we need to get better and hopefully we can learn from this game."
Junior wing
Tanaeya Boclair's aggressive offensive play as she led the Utes (5-0, 0-0 Pac-12) with 16 points while grabbing three steals. Junior forward
Emily Potter pulled down 12 rebounds with eight points and four blocks for Utah.

Daneesha Provo came up with impactful points in the second half.
Saint Mary's College (2-4, 0-0 WCC) won the tip and opened the game with a 9-2 run. The Gael's continued to control the floor extending their lead to 11 on an and-one opportunity. Junior wing
Malia Nawahine hit a 3-pointer with one minute to play in the first quarter, but the Gaels led 20-13 to end the first quarter.
Potter scored back-to-back buckets under the basket for her first points since early in the first quarter. The Utes saw their first lead of the ball came as junior wing
Tanaeya Boclair drove to the basket for a layup and a 31-30 lead. The Gaels answered with a 3-pointer at the other end to lead 33-31 at the break.
The Gael's were able to get to the foul line for seven of their 17 points in the third quarter as the Utes trailed by three, 50-47 heading into the fourth quarter.
Junior forward
Wendy Anae gave Utah its largest lead of the game on a driving spin move to the basket for a 6-point lead, 58-52. The Gaels tied the game on a layup and Boclair answer with a left-handed layup for a 60-58 lead. Saint Mary's tied it up again at 62 and Potter secured the win hitting one of two free throws for a 63-62 win over the Gaels.
Potter and Bean were named to the Hilton Concord Classic All-Tournament team after their two-day performance. Potter tallied 28 points, 22 rebounds and six blocks while shooting 57.9 percent from the floor. Bean had 14 points, 14 rebounds and 14 assists in the two outings for the Utes.
Utah returns to the Jon M. Huntsman Center Wednesday at 7 p.m. to host Southern Utah.
