CHANDLER, Ariz. - The Utah men's golf team returns to action next Monday and Tuesday, competing as one of 19 teams at the Wyoming Cowboy Classic in Chandler, Ariz. The two-day tournament will be held at the Whirlwind Golf Club.
Utah golfers will play the first two rounds of the event on Monday, followed by the final 18 holes of the event of Tuesday. Monday's opening-round and Tuesday's final round are scheduled to be an 7:30 a.m. shotgun start.
Along with Utah in the field of 19 teams, other teams competing in the Wyoming Cowboy Classic include Air Force Academy, Arizona, Colorado, CSU Northridge, Gonzaga, Grand Canyon, Houston Baptist, Idaho, Sam Houston State, San Francisco, Southern Utah, UCSB, Utah State, Weber State, Western Kentucky, Wichita State, William and Mary, and tournament host, Wyoming.
The Utes finished in 14th-place last week at the Airstream Adventures Northwest Classic in Canby, Ore., after carding a 38-over par (299-296-307=902). Senior Brandon Kida recorded his fourth top-30 performance of the season finishing in a tie for 27th place with a two-day score of 4-over par (75-72-73=220).
During the 2013-14 season, Utah finished in fourth place at the Wyoming Cowboy Classic giving them their best finish of the spring season. Jonathon Thomas finished in a tie for 17th-place with a score of 2-over par (69-72-71=212).
