Ute Football Heads into Week 4 of Spring Camp

Public practices this week are scheduled for Tuesday (3-5 p.m.) and Saturday (10 a.m.-Noon). The Utes will hold a scrimmage on Saturday. Both practices will be held in Rice-Eccles Stadium.

Public practices this week are scheduled for Tuesday (3-5 p.m.) and Saturday (10 a.m.-Noon). The Utes will hold a scrimmage on Saturday. Both practices will be held in Rice-Eccles Stadium.
Camp Notes
Junior college transfer Troy Williams will miss the rest of spring ball with a sore throwing arm, leaving junior Brandon Cox and freshman Tyler Huntley to handle all of the quarterback reps. The battle for the starting QB job will resume in August … Starting slot back Cory Butler-Byrd will miss the remainder of the spring with an injury. Butler-Byrd, a cornerback/receiver last season and a receiver/cornerback to start spring ball, is now considered a full-time receiver … Kyle Fulks replaces Butler-Byrd as the starting slot back for the final two weeks of camp. He will be backed up by walk-on Tyler Cooperwood … Some players coach Kyle Whittingham has identified as camp standouts are Pita Taumoepenu, Marcus Williams, Caleb Repp, Sunia Tauteoli, Brian Allen, Isaac Asiata and Joe Williams.Scrimmage Outlook
This Saturday's scrimmage will resemble last week's, both in number of plays (around 90) and general format. Included in the scrimmage schedule will be drives from the 30-yard line (No. 1 offense vs. No. 1 defense and No. 2 offense vs. No. 2 defense), punts, short yardage (third down and two, third and one, fourth and one), drives from the 50-yard line, kickoffs, red zone and punt returns.Looking Ahead
The final week of Utah's 2016 spring camp is around the corner. There are six total practices remaining-three this week and three next week-including closed practices on Thursdays. The final week of camp (Apr. 18-23) will culminate with the annual Red White spring game on Saturday, Apr. 23 at noon in Rice-Eccles Stadium.Ute Report
