SAN FRANCISCO – Junior punter Mitch Wishnowsky has been named the Pac-12 Special Teams Player of the Week, the league office announced today.
Â
The Perth, Australia native averaged 46.8 yards on six punts while placing punts at the USC 2-, 7- and 12-yard lines. He had punts of 56 and 60 yards, with the 60-yarder his long this season. Wishnowsky ranks No. 1 in the Pac-12 and No. 2 in the nation in net punting. Opponents have returned just one punt all season for minus one yard.
Â
It is Wishnowsky's third career Pac-12 Player of the Week honor and his first this season. He was named special teams player of the week twice in his debut season in 2016 when he won the Ray Guy Award as the nation's best punter.
Â
Also today, Wishnowsky was named to the All-American's Midseason All-America team.
