SAN FRANCISCO – Senior punter Mitch Wishnowsky has been named the Pac-12 Special Teams Player of the Week after his performance in Utah's win over Arizona, the league announced today.
It is Wishnowsky's first conference player of the week honor this season and the fourth of his career. He earned the recognition once in 2017 and twice during his Ray Guy Award winning season in 2016.
The Perth, Australia, native had four punts for a season-high average of 48.2 yards per punt against Arizona on Oct. 12 with the Wildcats returning just one punt for zero yards.
Wishnowsky, who had two punts of 50 or more yards (long of 55), landed three of his four punts inside the 20-yard-line and two inside the 10. His final punt was a 55-yarder downed on the Arizona 2-yard line with 2:33 remaining in the game.
He also faked a punt for a 28-yard rush (the longest of his career) to set up Utah's final touchdown of the game.
