Utes Have Success in Doubles on Third Day of ITA Regional

LAS VEGAS –The University of Utah men's tennis team has wrapped up their third day of competition at the ITA Regional Tournament.
The Utes saw success in doubles, as two teams were able to advance to advance to the quarterfinals. The No. 2 seeded Russell Benkaim and Randy Cory were able to beat out UNLV's Jordan Sauer and Olle Thestrup with a final score of 8-6. The duo of David Micevski and Slava Shainyan were then able to defeat Rithvik Bollipalli and Isaac Arturo Arevalo of Utah State with a final score of 8-7(3).
Shainyan, Mathias Gavelin and Azat Hankuliyev will all be playing again tomorrow in extra singles matches, but not for tournament purposes.
Competition will continue tomorrow at the ITA Regional Tournament with the quarterfinal doubles, doubles consolation, semifinal singles, singles consolation, semifinal doubles, along with the singles and doubles consolation finals.
