SALT LAKE CITY – Utah sophomore receiver Britain Covey has been selected to the Academic All-District football first team, announced today by the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA). He is now placed on the national ballot for Academic All-America honors.

A business major with a 3.85 grade point average, Covey leads Utah in receptions (54), yards (603) and yards per game (60.3). He ranks fifth in the Pac-12 in receptions per game (5.4). Covey has led or tied Utah in receiving yards six times this season, including tying his career high with 129 yards against Northern Illinois. He has 988 all-purpose yards (98.8 per game), which includes 114 rushing, 195 punt return and 76 kick return yards, in addition to his receiving yards. A former high school quarterback, Covey is 3-for-3 passing for 71 yards and two touchdowns.

Individuals are selected through voting by CoSIDA, a 2,000-member organization consisting of sports public relations professionals for colleges and universities in the United States and Canada.
