THIS WEEK
The Utah men's golf team returns to action at the Saint Mary's Invitational to wrap up the fall schedule. After a month since their last event, the Utes are set to compete in the three-day tournament, running Monday through Wednesday, Nov. 5-7, at the Poppy Hills Golf Course in Pebble Beach, Calif.

THE FIELD
Competing for the team title with Utah, the field of 18 includes: Arizona, BYU, Central Florida, Colorado State, Fresno State, Nevada, Oregon, Oregon State, Pepperdine, Saint Mary's, San Diego State, San Francisco, Santa Clara, Southern California, Toledo, UNC Wilmington, and Washington State.

UTAH'S LINE-UP
Utah's line-up this week will consist of: Senior Kyler Dunkle, juniors Jordan Costello and Mitchell Schow, sophomore Blake Tomlinson, and freshman Axel Einarsson. Redshirt freshman Colton Tanner will also make the trip to California to compete as an individual in the event.

TOURNAMENT DETAILS
The 54-hole event will be played with tee times that will begin at 7:30 a.m. PT each day of the tournament with 18 holes to be played each day. Live scoring for the Saint Mary's Invitational can be found at www.GolfStat.com.

THE COURSE
Opened on June 1, 1986, Poppy Hills has since co-hosted the PGA Tour's AT&T Pebble Beach National Pro-Am from 1991 through 2009, as well as the Spalding Pebble Beach Invitational (1989, 1990, 1992, 1993) and 1991 NCAA Men's Championships. Poppy Hills underwent an extensive renovation beginning in March of 2013 centered around water conservation, primarily by improving irrigation and drainage.

The designer, Robert Trent Jones, reinvented the course architecturally, restoring each hole to its natural elevation along the forest floor, softening doglegs and contours, rebuilding all 18 greens with bentgrass, eliminating rough and introducing native waste areas that reduce irrigated turf by nearly 25%. The new Poppy Hills reopened April 4, 2014 and currently hosts the Champions Tour's Nature Valley Open.

LAST TIME OUT
Utah wrapped up its hectic September schedule by closing out the month at the Marquette Intercollegiate at Erin Hills. The fourth straight event in four weeks led the Utes to a seventh place finish with a score of 28-over par (292-308-292) in Hartford, Wis.

Junior Jordan Costello finished as the high Ute in the three-day event, carding a combined score of 5-over par (73-76-72) to place in a tie for 25^th overall. Sophomore Blake Tomlinson finished in a tie for 36^th place with a three-round score of 8-over par (75-77-72) at the Erin Hills Golf Course.

UP NEXT
The Utes will open their spring schedule at the Amer Ari Invitational in Waikoloa, Hawaii. The event will run Thursday to Saturday, Feb. 7-9, at the Waikoloa Kings Course.
