Opening Statement...
"We are looking forward to this weekend. We play our last two home games of the regular season, which is crazy. Friday night we play Washington State and then Washington on Sunday for Senior Day where we will honor some great seniors at 2 p.m. We then finish off the year at USC and UCLA and then head to the Pac-12 Tournament, so it is here and it is winding down and a fun time of year. We are looking forward to it and we are hoping to get solid crowds in our last two games and hopeful to put two good basketball games together this weekend."
On if she feels Sunday will be an emotional game with it being Senior Day...
"Senior Day is always an emotional game, and that doesn't mean sadness. You put or five years into this university and to play at this level it is so much time and commitment and blood, sweat and tears, literally. You never think it is going to end as a freshman or sophomore, junior year you are a little more aware of it and then when it hits you as a senior, it is like 'whoa, this is over.' So yeah, there are always emotions that are going to come with that, but I always say that every season whoever your seniors are, that is what the season is for, for those seniors. You only get one senior year. I'll go on to coach a long time, but this year is for those guys. So, we want to honor them and have a great day. You hope that it isn't too emotional. You still have a game to win and it is an important game for us, but there are always emotions to go with that day."
On Emily Potter being one of all-time greats in Utah history...
"I don't know the stats off the top of my head but I know she has over 1,500 points, is close to a thousand rebounds and she already broke the career blocks record. I think the word I would use to describe potter is she just has 'presence.' It doesn't matter if she scored 25 or five, she is going to impact the game from the other team's standpoint because she has presence. She is 6-6, she knows how to block shots and there is a factor there that you have to game plan for her as an opponent. We will miss that. She bring a variable that will be hard to replace, but she has been a great player here and the numbers speak for themselves. She loves Utah and she is really proud to be a Ute. She has kept our Canadian pipeline going and she will go down as one of the all-time greats here. I am proud of her. She has put in a lot of hard work."
On how she sees the Pac-12 seeding shaping up...
"Well that is what we are fighting for now. It is so important to get a good seed for that tournament. Right now we are battling for sixth through eighth. We play four really important games and we have to win more than we lose, but we just have to go one at a time. Washington State is really dangerous. We were down 12 or 13 heading into halftime at their place and down in the fourth quarter and took our first lead with about 20 seconds to go, so we snuck out of there with a win. It was great and I am proud of our team, but they are good and dangerous. They have one of the best scorers in the country. She is a tough guard. Then we have Washington who has a couple of good scorers too and a new staff there, so nothing is easy. We just have to go one at a time and get some momentum going into the conference tournament and post-season play."
On Megan Huff's performance against California...
"She was just aggressive. She is really efficient as well. If you look at her numbers she is leading us in shots attempts but also leading us in field goal percentage, which is good and it is what you want. She is a tough guard. She can shoot it so well. She is shooting 38-percent from the three, so you have to guard her on the perimeter, which then allows her to use her athleticism and skill to go around. She was attacking a lot, which she is so long and athletic and hard to guard."
