STOCKTON, Calif. – Utah freshman golfer
Blake Tomlinson will compete as an individual in the NCAA Division I men's regional in Stockton, Calif., next week, beginning with the first round on Monday, May 14.
Tomlinson is one of 10 individuals set to compete in the regional, which will be hosted by the University of Pacific at the Reserve at Spanos Golf Course. The par-72 course measures a total of 7,239 yards.
"I am excited to get to California with Blake," said Utah head golf coach
Garrett Clegg. "It will be a lot of fun competing at the NCAA Regionals as an individual. This will be a fantastic tournament for Blake and a fun way to keep his exceptional freshman season going."
Tomlinson is the first Utah golfer to earn an NCAA Regional bid since
Dustin Pimm in 2007, and just the third player in school history. The Salt Lake City native tallied a team-best 71.56 season scoring average, which currently ranks third-lowest in single-season school history.
His season scoring average ranks 16

In his first year with the Utes, Tomlinson tallied a pair of top-10 individual finishes, which included his season-best fourth-place finish at the Desert Mountain Intercollegiate, where he carded a 3-under par (64-75-74=213). His first-round score of 8-under par (64) was tied for the team's season-low overall on the season.
Tomlinson also managed to register a team-best 18 rounds of par or better, which included carding scores in the 60's, in six of his 34 rounds on the year. He was Utah's scoring leader in three of 11 tournaments this season.
Tomlinson will play 18 holes on Monday and will follow with another 18 holes on Tuesday, May 15. He will wrap-up regional-play with a final 18 holes on Wednesday, May 16. Tomlinson is set to tee-off on Monday at 9:20 a.m. PT. Live scoring for the event can be found
