2018 Camp Kyle: Day Two In The Books

SALT LAKE CITY – It was another hot day for the Utes as they entered the second day of fall camp, but that didn't put a damper on things as all cylinders were firing today for Utah football.Â
Â
The Utes continued to get down to basics working on offense vs. defense, punt and kick returns and schemes and individual position breakdown groups.Â
Highlights during the media observation period…
UtahUtes.com also had a chance to play rapid fire with Terrell Burgess, Samson Nacua and Julian Blackmon after practice. The three, who answered in order, had a lot to say about their favorite things to do in Salt Lake City and who is the best dancer on the team.Â

Thoughts on practice…

Head coach Kyle Whittingham on practice today…
"Today was quite a bit shorter with less reps and less of a work load. Tomorrow we will go back to it being heavy again and then back off again. It is as juggling act. It's a marathon and not a sprint and we have four weeks from today until we play."
Whittingham on how the offensive line looked today…
"We won't really have separation there yet to put a badge on yet. It is a really hard position to evaluate like the defensive line as well."Â
Tyler Huntley on how the offense is looking through two days…
"As an offense I feel like we are progressing. We have been working over the summer and working on our plays. We want to polish up our game and it is coming along. We feel good about ourselves."
Huntley on being in his second year with offensive coordinator/quarterbacks coach Troy Taylor…
"Just being in the offense for two years now you start to feel comfortable and you know the checks and the different looks you are looking for. Coach Troy is doing a great job of communicating to the quarterbacks."

- Tyler Huntley and Siaosi Mariner were in sync today during the offense vs. defense drills, connecting on multiple first downs.Â
- Julian Blackmon had a big knockdown on defense over a wide receiver.
- Josh Nurse and Tre' Strong were both providing close coverage on the deep ball.Â
- Vonte Davis had an acrobatic knockdown, batting the ball away on a dive.Â
