Learn more about incoming freshman Brooke Manson in the latest of our newcomer "Getting to Know U" series. Manson, who hails from Sammamish, Wash., is in her first season with the Utah cross country season.
Q: What about Utah stood out to you during the recruiting process?
A: Mainly the team, everybody was really welcoming, empowering, and hard working. This team is like a family and Utah is a beautiful place. I really just wanted to get away from my home to see this new and beautiful place.
Q: What has been your favorite thing about Salt Lake City so far?
A: Just hanging out with all of the freshman, we have been getting along really well, and it has been really fun getting all the perks like the athlete dining hall, trainers and everything like that.
Q: If you were not running cross country/track for the U, what sport would you play?
A: Tennis, I use to play tennis when I was younger and I love it so much.
Q: If you were to host a late night talk show, who would your first guest be?
A: Young Leonardo DiCaprio.
Q: What is your favorite food? What food do you not like at all?
A: My favorite food is probably salmon with some mashed potatoes, and I do not like mustard.
Q: What is your most used emoji?
A: "Whatever" emoji with the girl.
Q: What is your all-time favorite movie? TV show?
A: My all-time favorite TV show is That 70's show and favorite movie is Stand By Me.

A: The Hour of the Land by Terry Tempest Williams
