Utes Ready For 2019 Senior Bowls

SALT LAKE CITY – The University of Utah football program is well represented heading into this year's senior bowls with six players accepting invitations to play in the East-West Shrine Game and the Reese's Senior Bowl.
94th East-West Shrine Game
When: Saturday, Jan. 19
Time: 1 p.m. MT
Location: Tropicana Field (St. Petersburg, Fla.)
TV: NFL Network
Utah Players Attending: Matt Gay (East), Jackson Barton (West), Cody Barton (West)
The Barton brothers will play together one last time at the 94th annual East-West Shrine Game on Saturday, Jan. 19. Both earned All-Pac-12 honors as seniors this season with offensive tackle Jackson making the first team and linebacker Cody earning honorable mention after leading Utah and finishing ninth in the conference with 116 total tackles.
Gay, an All-American both of his seasons at Utah and the 2017 Lou Groza Award winner, led the Pac-12 and ranked in the top-five nationally in field goals made. He connected on 21 consecutive field goals this season, the longest streak in the nation this year.
The Reese's Senior Bowl
When: Saturday, Jan. 26
Time: 12:30 p.m. MT
Location: Ladd-Peebles Stadium (Mobile, Ala.)
TV: NFL Network
Utah Players Attending: Marquise Blair, Chase Hansen, Mitch Wishnowsky
Blair, a second-team all-Pac-12 safety, was memorable for his hard hits. He recorded 50 tackles, an interception and two pass breakups.
Hansen was a second-team All-American (FWAA, Sporting News and The Athletic) and a first-team All-Pac-12 linebacker. Despite missing the Holiday Bowl with an injury, his 114 tackles ranked secondo n the team and 10th in the Pac-12. He added two interceptions (one for a touchdown) and four pass breakups.
Wishnowsky is the only three-time Ray Guy Award finalist in history and the 2016 Ray Guy Award winner. He was also a three-time All-American and three-time first-team All-Pac-12 punter. He ranked second in the conference and in the top-10 nationally in punting average (45.1) this season and his 62 career punts of 50-plus yards ranks second all-time at Utah.
