FIRST SERVE
No. 18 Utah takes its four-match winning streak on the road to No. 15 Cal and No. 2 Stanford. All three teams are currently tied for first at 5-1 in the Pac-12.
Â
The Utes are coming off a great weekend where they swept UCLA and USC for the second time in program history.
Â
Last season, Utah dropped both matches on its trip to the Bay Area, so it won't be easy taking on two top-15 team in the country. It's the second time this season that Utah has played two ranked teams in a weekend.
Â
Both matches will be on Pac-12 Network.
Â
PLAYER OF THE WEEK
Kenzie Koerber was named Pac-12 Offensive Player of the Week after having 32 kills hitting .467 over the two matches against UCLA and USC.
Â
Against UCLA, the junior right side had her fifth double-double of the season finishing with 14 kills and 10 digs. She hit .522 against the Bruins.
Â
Koerber followed that up with an even better performance against USC as she led the team with 18 kills while hitting .432. The 18 kills are the second most she has had this season and were a huge reason that Utah came back from two sets down to win the match against the Trojans.
Â
It was her first Pac-12 weekly award.
SWEEPING THE WEEKEND
Utah defeated both UCLA and USC for only the second time in program history and the first time since 2014.
The Utes swept the Bruins on a night they were retiring Kim Turner's jersey and honoring head coach
Beth Launiere for coaching in her 30th season.Â
They found themselves in a hole against USC dropping the first two sets, but stormed back to defeat the Trojans in five. It was the first time the Utes have come back from two sets down since they did it against Missouri in 2016.
Â
1,000 CAREER KILLS
Dani Drews is sitting at 976 career kills after having 34 kills this past weekend.
Â
This season, she has five 20-kill matches
Â
The Second Team All-American had 17 kills in the sweep against UCLA hitting .412 and leads the team in kills so far this season with 276 kills.
Â
Drews will become the 17th player in Utah volleyball history to reach the 1,000 career kill mark.
Â
KA'AHA'AINA-TORRES CONTROLS THE OFFENSE
Saige Ka'aha'aina-Torres had a huge weekend finishing with 47 assists against UCLA and 52 assists against USC bringing her to 668 assists this season.
Â
Her average of 11.13 assists per set is the 15th best mark in the country.
Â
She has 11 matches with at least 40 assists this season including her last six matches. The 52 assists she had against USC is her first 50-assist match and a career high.
