DENVER, Colo. – Highlighted by
Russell Benkaim advancing to the semifinals in the singles main draw, the University of Utah men's tennis has team wrapped up day three of competition at the ITA Regionals.

Benkaim opened his day with the round of 16 singles and knocked off North Dakota's Andreja Petrovic in a 6-1, 6-4 victory. Now sitting in the quarterfinal round, Benkaim was set to face James Davis from Denver. Benkaim dropped the first set, but rallied to win the second set 6-1. A dominant 6-0 third set pushed Benkaim to win the match and earn a spot in the semifinals of the main draw. Benkaim will face Mateo Vereau from BYU in the semifinals tomorrow morning.

Playing in the round of 16 on the doubles side,
Mathias Gavelin and
Azat Hankuliyev took on the seventh-seeded pair of Louis Menard and Jordy Wisser from New Mexico State. In an extremely competitive match, the Ute duo came up just short, falling 8-7 (5) to end their run in the doubles tournament.

In the consolation bracket,
Paul McCallie was set for his round of 16 match against Julien Evrard from Nevada. McCallie couldn't pick up the win today and fell 6-1, 6-4.
