DENVER, Colo. – Russell Benkaim and the University of Utah men's tennis team has wrapped up day four of competition at the ITA Regionals. Benkaim was the sole Ute competing on Saturday in Denver as he saw action in the semifinal round of the singles bracket.
With a bye in the first round, Benkaim defeated opponents from Nevada, BYU, North Dakota and Denver, to advance to the semifinal round on Saturday in the singles main draw.
Benkaim was matched up against the 12
th-seeded Mateo Vereau from BYU in today's competition. Benkaim fell short, 1-6, 3-6 to end his singles run in the ITA Regionals.
The Utah men's tennis team will be back in action Friday to Sunday, Nov. 8-10, as they will participate in the LMU invitational in Los Angeles, Calif. Loyola Marymount University will host Utah's final tournament of the fall season.
