Bradlee Anae Named Chuck Bednarik Award Player of the Week

SOUTHAMPTON, Pa. – University of Utah defensive end Bradlee Anae was announced as the Chuck Bednarik Award Player of the Week today after his performance in Utah's 21-3 win over Arizona State.
Anae, who was named to the Chuck Bednarik Award preseason watch list, also earned Pac-12 Defensive Player of the Week and Pac-12 Defensive Lineman of the Week. The Chuck Bednarik Award is given each year to the best defensive player in FBS football.
Anae recorded three sacks for a loss of 17 yards and a pass breakup in Utah's win over ranked-foe Arizona State on Saturday, bringing his season sack total to seven. He ranks 14th in the FBS and second in the Pac-12 in total sacks this season.
Anae's sacks on Saturday were instrumental in causing chaos for the Sun Devil offense with his last two of the game forcing Arizona State to a fourth down field goal attempt and to turn the ball over on downs.
The Laie, Hawaii, native has 24.0 career sacks, ranking third among active players in the FBS and seventh all-time at Utah. He also ranks third in career sack yardage as a Ute.
Anae also moved up the career records list in tackles for loss, ranking sixth among active FBS players and sixth in school history with 35.5. He is currently sixth in program history in tackles for loss yards at 198.
Anae and the No. 12 Utes return to action on Saturday, Oct. 26 when they host California for Utah's "Dark Mode" and Ute Proud game. Fans are encouraged to wear black for the 8 p.m. MT kick.
