No. 18 Utah is ready for a special weekend as it celebrates head coach
Beth Launiere being in her 30th season coaching. The festivities will be after the UCLA match this Friday, October 11.
Â
Not only will Launiere be celebrated, but they will be retiring Kim Turner's jersey in between the second and third sets. It will be the first jersey retired in program history.

On the court, the Utes will be hosting the LA schools as it plays UCLA on Friday at 7 p.m. and USC on Sunday at 12 p.m.

Against UCLA, the first 100 fans will receive fanny packs.

30TH YEAR
Head coach
Beth Launiere has entered her 30th season as the head coach at the University of Utah.
Â
Her first season was in 1990 and she has built the program from the bottom up. The year before she took over, the Utes won one match.
Â
In her 30 seasons, she has taken Utah to 15 NCAA Tournaments and won 575 games.
Â
The Utes will honor Launiere after the match this Friday against UCLA with a presentation on the court.

JERSEY RETIRED
Kim Turner will become the first player in Utah volleyball program history to have her jersey hung in the rafters.
Â
Turner, inducted into the Crimson Club Hall of Fame in 2014, ended her Utah career holding program records in kills (1620), total blocks (670), block assists (589) and second in hitting percentage (.326) and became the first All-American in program history after being named to the AVCA Third Team in 2003.

In addition to being an All-American, Turner was also named AVCA First Team All-Region (West) three times, Mountain West Conference Player of the Year two times, Mountain West Freshman of the Year in 2000 and was named to the All-Mountain West Team all four years.

In her four years on campus, the Utes went 95-33 from 2000-03 and made the NCAA Tournament every season. She also helped lead Utah to the program's first Sweet 16 in 2001. Turner was named Mountain West Tournament MVP after Utah won the tournament in 2001 and 2002.

SMITH FILLS IN AT SETTER
Emily Smith got her first start against Arizona State and filled in masterfully finishing three kills away from registering a triple double.

The freshman had 35 assists, 13 digs and seven kills hitting .667.
Â
Her effort helped the team sweep the Sun Devils while hitting .328 in the match. It was the Utes eighth sweep of the season.

DREWS PICKS UP WHERE SHE LEFT OFF
Dani Drews finished the 2018 season on fire and hasn't slowed down in 2019. At Pepperdine, she totaled 62 kills hitting .293 and averaged 4.77 kills per set in the three matches.Â
In the last nine matches, Drews is averaging 18.33 kills with four of those matches having over 20 kills and 18 kills twice.
The Second Team All-American had 22 kills in the match against Oregon and leads the team in kills so far this season with 242 kills.

Utah will travel to Cal and Stanford for matches on Friday, October 18 against Cal and then Sunday, October 20 against Stanford.
