SALT LAKE CITY – University of Utah men's tennis senior
Dan Little jumped up to a No. 42 ranking in singles in the latest ITA top-100 rankings, announced today.Â
The senior has defeated three top-90 opponents in the last four matches, earning himself a top-50 national ranking for the first time in his career.Â
Little is 7-3 in singles play this season, including his three wins against ranked opponents, also sitting with a 5-2 doubles record with partners
Azat Hankuliyev,
Joe Woolley and
Russell Benkaim.Â
Little is currently on a five-match winning streak in singles play, including three straight against Miami, Iowa and New Mexico that were ranked opponents. He started his ranked wins against No. 13 Adria Soriano of the Hurricanes, beating him 7-5, 6-4.Â
He followed it up with a big win over Kareem Allaf of Iowa, who was ranked No. 89 at the time, winning 6-1, 6-3. He also took down No. 35 Ricky Hernandez-Tong of New Mexico this past weekend, 6-4, 3-6, 7-5.Â
Little and the Utes will return to action on Saturday, Feb. 23 when they host Marquette (12 p.m. MT) and Montana (5 p.m. MT) with admission to both being free to the public at the Eccles Tennis Center.Â
