OFF THE TEE
The Utah men's golf team is set to return to action at the Bandon Dunes Championship this Sunday through Tuesday, March 10-12. Hosted by Gonzaga, the three-day tournament will take place at the Bandon Dunes Resort in Bandon, Ore.
THE FIELD
Utah will compete in a field of 17 teams at the Bandon Dunes Championship. The field is: Boise State, Denver, Fresno State, Gonzaga, Idaho, North Carolina State, Cal State Northridge, Ohio State, No. 32 Oregon, Oregon State, San Jose State, No. 10 SMU, UNC-Wilmington, USC Upstate, Utah, Utah Valley, and Washington State.

Utah's five-man team for the Bandon Dunes Championship is: senior
Kyler Dunkle, sophomore
Blake Tomlinson, freshman
Axel Einarsson, sophomore
Tristan Mandur, and junior
Mitchell Schow. Junior
Jordan Costello will be playing as an individual in the event.
THE COURSE
Bandon Dunes Golf Resort has four courses that the tournament rotates between each year. This is the third time that the Bandon Dunes Course will host the event and the first time since 2015. The Bandon Dunes course is perched on a bluff high above the Pacific Ocean. Bandon Dunes unfolds along pristine native dunes where expansive ocean views are revealed on nearly every hole. The course is completely natural and routed through an environment of indigenous vegetation.
TOUR TIME
During Utah's time between competition,
Kyler Dunkle traveled to San Antonio this past week to compete in the PGA Mackenzie Tour Q-School event. Dunkle had a stellar four-round tournament and finished tied for sixth place with a score of 6-under par (69-70-72-71=282) in the field of 120 golfers. With his sixth-place finish, Dunkle qualified for the PGA Tour Canada, which is a series of tournaments across Canada.
TAP-INS
Dunkle has shot par or better in 12-of-21 rounds this year and had a streak of seven straight rounds under par beginning at the final fall event and running through Utah's last event, the Prestige. Dunkle ranks 43
rd in the nation for subpar strokes per round at 4.43 strokes.
EAGLE EYES
Utah has recorded 14 eagles throughout the season which ranks sixth in the nation.
Mitchell Schow is currently tied for fourth in the nation with six eagles on the year, while
Kyler Dunkle is tied for ninth with five eagles.
Axel Einarsson is tied for 28th in the nation with four eagles.
LAST TIME OUT
Utah competed in a tough field at the Prestige at PGA West a couple weeks ago. The Utes finished the three-day event in 14
th place with a team score of 45-over par (897).
Dunkle led the charge for the Utes, tabbing his fourth top-20 finish of the year after finishing tied for 19
th overall. Dunkle finished the event with a combined score of 5-over par (218). He has finished as the low-Ute in six out of the seven events during his senior campaign.
UP NEXT
After wrapping up action on Tuesday at the Bandon Dunes Championship, the Utah men's golf team will head to Tucson to compete in the NIT Championship on Monday, March 18. The National Invitational Tournament will be played at the OMNI Tucson National Golf Club.
