SALT LAKE CITY – The No. 44 Utah men's tennis program is set for the 2019 Pac-12 Men's Tennis Championship, taking on Oregon on Wednesday, April 24 at 1 p.m. MT. The championship runs April 24-27 with the championship match taking place on Saturday at 4 p.m. MT.
Utah enters the match as the No. 8 seed and will battle No. 9 seed Oregon on Wednesday. With a win, the Utes would move on to the quarterfinals against No. 1 UCLA on Thursday at 1 p.m. MT. The Utes and the Ducks have already faced off this season with Utah upsetting the then-ranked No. 31 Ducks 4-2.

Utah enters the week ranked No. 44 in the ITA polls with new rankings coming out tomorrow. The Utes are 16-10 overall and 2-6 in Pac-12 play, defeating then ranked No. 31 Oregon and No. 12 Stanford on Senior Day.
Utah's No. 1 and No. 2 singles players rank in the top-90 in the ITA with
Dan Little landing at No. 47 and
David Micevski at No. 83. The Utes have ranked as high as No. 41 this season.
Little has led the Utes from the start this season, record a 15-5 overall record in dual play, including going 6-1 against ranked opponents. His highest ranked wins this season were against No. 13 Adria Soriano of Miami and No. 16 Brandon Holt of USC, also defeating No. 47 Alexandre Rotsaert of Stanford to give the Utes a 2-0 lead against the Cardinal on Senior Day.
Little broke the 90-career wins mark this season in singles, cementing himself as one of the best singles players at Utah. Little has paired with
Azat Hankuliyev at the No. 2 doubles position this year, posting a 10-5 dual record.
Micevski is 12-3 at the No. 2 spot this season, including being undefeated against ranked opponents in No. 98 Keegan Smith of UCLA, No. 51 Logan Smith of USC and No. 110 William Genesen of Stanford. The Skopje, Macedonia native has teamed up with
Slava Shainyan at No. 1 doubles, recording nine dual wins on the season, including one against No. 17 doubles team out of Cal.
Shainyan has been playing on the No. 3 court, posting an 11-8 singles record this season. He defeated No. 58 Bojan Jankulovski of Miami early on in the season that was included in a four-match win streak.
Russell Benkaim has had a breakout sophomore season on the No. 4 court in singles, claiming 15 wins while going 3-3 in Pac-12 play. He won 11 of his first 13 completed matches of the season, also recording singles wins over opponents from UCLA, Washington and a match-winning defeat over Michael Genender of Stanford.
On the No. 5 court for singles, true freshman
Mathias Gavelin has been a consistent competitor for the Utes, earning 13 singles wins in dual play. He won his first eight completed matches of the season, also finishing the season with a rally-stopping win against Oregon and a two-set win to sweep Mountain Region foe Denver in early March.
Joe Woolley has been Utah's No. 6 singles player this season along with Hankuliyev with Woolley posting five singles wins. Woolley has also been dominant at doubles play this season, teaming up with Benkaim for nine wins, including the doubles-point securing win against Stanford on court three.
