SAN FRANCISCO – Utah senior golfer
Kyler Dunkle became the first Ute golfer to be named to the All-Pac-12 team on Wednesday, earning second-team honors as selected by the coaches.
"For Kyler to be the first player in our program to make an All-Pac-12 team, it's a new standard for our players to shoot for," head coach
Garrett Clegg said. "He set a lot of new benchmarks for our team this season. It's awesome for him to be recognized for his great play this year, and we're incredibly proud of him."
Dunkle is coming off a strong showing at the Pac-12 Championships, finishing second for Utah's best individual finish ever at the event. He helped the team tie for fifth, which was its best finish since joining the league. Dunkle's second round of 64 tied for the lowest round among all players.
Dunkle leads Utah with a 71.2 average. He won two tournaments this year, the Showdown in the Rockies and the Mark Simpson Colorado Invitational. Dunkle finished in the top 10 in five tournaments. He has birdied 123 holes this year, which ranks him 20
th in the NCAA, and has eagled six holes.
Dunkle has three career victories with a career scoring average of 71.78.
