TEMPE, Ariz. - The Intercollegiate Tennis Association announced its 2019 Division 1 Mountain Regional winners this morning with Utah earning two individual awards.
Roeland Brateanu was named the Wilson/ITA Coach of the Year and
Dan Little earned ITA Senior Player of the Year honors.
Â
Brateanu was named the Wilson/ITA Coach of the Year for a third-straight campaign. Last season, he became the first Utah head coach to win postseason awards in multiple years since F.D. Robbins in 1990 (WAC Coach of the Year). Utah earned consecutive trips to the NCAA Tournament for the first time since 1997 and the Utes ranked as high as No. 41 in the ITA rankings this year. Utah finished 17-12 with four wins over ranked opponents, taking down No. 40 Old Dominion, No. 31 Oregon on the road, No. 12 Stanford on Senior Day and then No. 47 Oregon again in the first round of the Pac-12 Tournament.

Little was named the ITA Senior Player of the Year and is gearing up to compete in singles action at the NCAA Tournament on Monday in Orlando. The London, England, native is the first singles player from Utah to qualify for the NCAA Championships since 2007 when Zach Ganger earned a spot in the bracket. Utah has had one NCAA Champion in men's tennis with Greg Holmes, who is a member of the ITA Hall of Fame. He won in 1983 after entering the tournament as the No. 1 seed.
Little, who currently ranks No. 45 nationally in singles play, cemented himself as one of the best players in the Pac-12 this season. He earned Pac-12 All-Conference second-team honors after finishing dual play 15-6 and 23-7 overall including the fall portion of the schedule.
He finished the season with six wins over ranked opponents. In his six ranked wins, four were against top-50 opponents; No. 13 Adria Soriano of Miami, No. 16 Brandon Holt of USC, No. 35 Ricky Hernandez-Tong of New Mexico and No. 47 Alexandre Rotsaert of Stanford.
