SAN FRANCISCO – The University of Utah men's tennis program was honored today by the Pac-12 after seniors
Dan Little and
David Micevski were named to the all-conference squads.
Little earned second-team honors after landing on the honorable mention squad in 2017 and 2018. This is also Micevski's second all-Pac-12 selection, earning a spot on the honorable mention team this year and as a freshman.
The Utes have had 10 Pac-12 All-Conference selections since joining the league in 2011. Little's second-team recognition this season is the third time in program history a Ute has landed on the second-team, joining Slim Hamza who earned two second-team honors during his career.
Little currently ranks No. 45 nationally in singles play, holding a 15-6 dual record that included going 4-2 in Pac-12 play. He is also 6-2 against nationally ranked opponents this season, highlighted by wins over No. 13 Adria Soriano of Miami and Pac-12 Singles Player of the Year No. 16 Brandon Holt of USC.
The London, England, native was also integral in Utah's win over No. 12 Stanford, winning his match on court one by beating No. 47 Alexandre Rotsaert. With dual play over for the season, Little has turned his attention to the 2019 NCAA Singles Championships which will take place in Orlando, Fla. May 20-25.
Micevski has been playing in the No. 2 singles position this season, finishing with a 13-4 record in dual play. The Skopje, Macedonia, native ranks No. 85 nationally in the latest ITA rankings after coming away with some key wins for the Utes during conference play.
He picked up back-to-back ranked wins to start the Pac-12 season, defeating No. 98 Keegan Smith of UCLA and No. 51 Logan Smith of USC after going on a five-match win streak to wrap up non-conference play. His winning ways continued against No. 12 Stanford and No. 47 Oregon, beating No. 110 William Genesen of Stanford and Ty Gentry of Oregon, helping the Utes to the quarterfinals of the Pac-12 Championships.
