Camp Report Day 11: Final Week Underway

SALT LAKE CITY – The Utah football program started the third and final week of fall camp today, wrapping up its 11th overall practice on a sunny and clear day in Salt Lake City.

For Today's episode of Football Camp Report, Bill Riley met up with offensive coordinator Andy Ludwig after practice.
With the season quickly approaching, it is almost time for the 2019 Utah Red Zone Fan Fest. The annual even will take place on Saturday, Aug. 17 from 6-8 p.m. in the Rice-Eccles Stadium south plaza.

New year, New Coaches: Head coach Kyle Whittingham met with the media after practice today and talked about his two new coaches in Colton Swan (Linebackers) and Sione Po'uha (Defensive Tackles).
"They are doing a nice job. The added bonus of Colton is that he is a special teams guy, an outstanding special teams coach. He has been a special teams coordinator in the past, so Coach Shah has a right-hand man this season in Colton. And then obviously he is doing a very nice job with the linebackers as well, but anytime we can get guys with extensive special teams experience, it helps your cause. And then Sione has done a nice job. He has good players to work with, so it is not a situation where there are a lot of guys to develop right now, but there will be down the road. He just needs to continue to keep them tuned up and ready to go."Â
UtahUtes.com caught up with defensive end Bradlee Anae after practice to talk about fall camp and how the defensive line is shaping up.Â
On how fall camp has gone so far for him...Â
"For me, it has been OK. I am improving on a couple of things slowly but surely, just trying to get one-percent better every day."Â
On how he feels the defensive line is looking as a group...Â
"The defensive line is coming together very well. The chemistry is there, not only on the field but off the field. We like to spend time with each other off the field and I feel like the chemistry is there. As far as execution, I feel like it is close to perfect, but not quite there yet. We need to get it perfect right before the season."Â
On what the defensive line likes to do together off the field...
We are in fall camp, so we just hang out in each other's rooms. You just have some down time and we like to spend time with each other and listen to music or play cards."Â
On who the best card player is...Â
"Probably Mika Tafua. He is pretty witty with his cards. He gets lucky the most."
Candid Camera: It is rare to see a defensive lineman without his posse at practice, simliar to this situation where John Penisini was being interviewed by local media members.Â
