OVERLAND PARK, Kan. – Utah senior running back
Zack Moss is one of 30 candidates for the college football Senior CLASS Award.
Â
To be eligible for the award, a student-athlete must be classified as a senior and have notable achievements in four areas of community, classroom, character and competition. CLASS is an acronym for Celebrating Loyalty and Achievement for Staying in School.
Â
A national awards candidate, Moss ranks second all-time at Utah in career rushing yards (3,044), needing 176 yards to break the school record, which has stood since 1988 and ranks sixth among active FBS players. This season he has 393 yards (98.2 ypg) and four touchdowns through four games. Moss is a member of the football leadership council, participates in events with the Crimson Council (Utah's Student-Athlete Advisory Committee) and has a friendship with students from a local special-needs school in West Valley. He is a communication major and is on track to graduate from Utah in December. Moss will be the first in his family to graduate college.
Â
The 30 candidates will be narrowed down to 10 finalists midway through the regular season before a nationwide vote.
