DAVIS, Calif. – Utah baseball scored 15 runs to earn their first win of the season 15-8 against UC Davis on Saturday, February 15 in Davis, California.

Utah got going in the seventh sending 12 to the plate and scoring nine runs on four hits while drawing four walks.
Shea Kramer cleared the bases with a grand slam to cap the nine-run inning.

Kramer had a huge day going 4-5 with six RBI and scored three runs as well. Every player scored at least one run in the game and five players scored multiple runs.

Utah's bats were quiet early, totaling two hits up until the seventh when they exploded. Utah used three singles, four walks,
Kayler Yates was hit by a pitch and to clear the bases, Kramer knocked a grand slam for his first home run of the season to go from a two-run deficit to up 9-2.

UC Davis responded with four runs of their own in the bottom half of the seventh inning to cut the lead down to 9-6.
Ian MacIver came in to get the final out of the inning, ending the Aggies rally.

After both teams went scoreless in the eighth, the Utes got things going again in the ninth to get a little more breathing room. Utah scored six runs on three hits pushing their run total to 15. They were also patient at the plate drawing five walks.

Trey Clarkson got the win in his first appearance in relief for Utah.
David Watson got the start and pitched 5.0 innings and only gave up two runs. Watson had four strikeouts.

Jayden Kiernan had another big game at the plate finishing 3-6 and had three RBI on the day.
Tyler Thompson and
Isaac Deveaux both had two RBI as well.

The Utes had nine hits and drew 10 walks in the game.

The rubber match between Utah and UC Davis will be Sunday, February 16 at 2 p.m.
