Timmy Allen joined select company Tuesday when he became just the 12th Runnin' Utes player named to the USBWA (United States Basketball Writers Association) All-District Team for District VIII.

Allen is the first Ute to earn USBWA All-District honors since
Kyle Kuzma in 2017 and joins
Jakob Poeltl (2016), Luke Nevill (2007) and Andrew Bogut (2005) as the only sophomores at Utah to garner the award. The 6-6 forward was named an All-Pac-12 Second-Team honoree on Monday when the league announced its postseason awards.

The Mesa, Ariz., product wrapped up the regular-season of his sophomore campaign averaging 17.5 points, 7.3 rebounds, 3.0 assists and 1.2 steals with six double-doubles. Heading into the conference tournament, Allen is just 1-of-8 players to average 17.0 points, 7.0 rebounds, 2.5 assists and 1.0 steals in the nation according to Basketball-Reference.com and the only player from a Power 5 program.

Utah is set to open the Pac-12 Tournament this Wednesday, March 11, at 1 p.m. (MT) / Noon (PT) local against Oregon State inside T-Mobile Arena on Pac-12 Networks.
