BANDON, Ore. – The University of Utah golf team finished the first round of the Bandon Dunes Championship today with the Utes in 10
th place overall while having four players in the top-25, including two playing as individuals. The Utes shot 10-over (294) as a team today through 18 holes.
"Overall a really poor performance by the team," head coach
Garrett Clegg said. We didn't play the scoring holes well at all. There is still a lot of golf remaining, so hopefully tomorrow we can play a lot better overall. Jesper and Axel played great today, so I am happy for them. Hopefully they can keep playing great."
Senior
Mitchell Schow is currently sitting in a tie for 14
th overall, shooting even for the day (71), notching five birdies on the day. Junior
Tristan Mandur is tied for 20
th after carding 1-over (72) in the first round while
Blake Tomlinson is tied for 31
st shootin 2-over (73).
Sophomore
Colton Tanner and freshman
Javier Barcos rounded out Utah's team competitors today, tying for 85
th after shooting 7-over (78).
Competing as individuals, both
Axel Einarsson and
Jesper von Reedtz tied for fourth among the field, shooting 2-under (69). It is the second-lowest round that von Reedtz has shot this season, shooting a 66 at the Maui Jim Intercollegiate and a 69 at the Gopher Invitational in September.
Einarsson's low round in Oregon ties for a career-low after shooting a 69 at the Marquette Invitational and Redhawk Invitational as a freshman last year.
