MINNEAPOLIS, Minn. – Former University of Utah women's basketball standout and two-time All-Pac-12 first-team selection
Megan Huff has signed with the Minnesota Lynx of the WNBA, announced today by Lynx head coach Cheryl Reeve.
"Thank you to the staff in Minnesota," Huff said. "It is a blessing to have the opportunity to compete at the highest level among some of the best players in the world. I am so excited to start this next chapter in my career. Go Lynx!"
Huff was selected by New York in the third round of the 2019 WNBA Draft and spent the past season playing in Latvia for TTT Riga. During her time overseas, Huff showed the versatility as a forward that Utah fans know well, averaging 11.0 points, 9.2 rebounds and 1.3 assists per game.
While at Utah, Huff became just the second player in program history to earn back-to-back first-team All-Pac-12 honors. In 60 games as a Ute, she became a 1,000-point scorer and was just the third in program history to do it in two seasons.
"I am so proud of the hard work Huff has put in this past season overseas and I think it is a testament to her work ethic and passion for the game that she has this opportunity," Utah head women's basketball coach
Lynne Roberts said. "She is extremely talented and I can't wait to see what she can achieve in the WNBA. We are proud that she is a Ute."
During her senior year in 2018-19, Huff averaged 19.6 points and 9.9 rebounds per game, landing her at No. 5 and No. 8 all-time in single-season scoring and rebound average as a Ute. Huff finished that season ranked in the top-15 in the Pac-12 in scoring, rebounding, field goal percentage, free throw percentage, steals, three-point field goal percentage and blocks.
Along with ranking in the top-10 all-time at Utah in single-season scoring and rebounding, she also sits in the top-10 in single-game points, single-season total points, career scoring, career rebounding, career three-point percentage and career free throw percentage. She also wrapped up her career with 23 double-doubles (includes five during her time at Hawaii).
One of the highlights of her time at Utah came against the No. 4 Oregon Ducks her senior year, throwing up a career-high 38 points on a team that played in the Final Four in 2019. It was the second-most scored by a player in the Pac-12 that season and the second-most in the Utah history.
