Midseason All-America Accolades Pour in for Lloyd

Utah junior linebacker lauded by five outlets
SALT LAKE CITY – University of Utah junior linebacker Devin Lloyd earned placement on five Midseason All-America lists this week, as Lloyd was honored by The Athletic, Associated Press, CBS Sports, ESPN and Sporting News.

Looked upon as the generals of the Utah defense, the linebacker group continues to be led by the general himself—Lloyd—who is currently the sixth-leading tackler in all of FBS football (10.2 per game). He also sits second in the Pac-12 in total tackles (61) this season, including a conference-leading 13 tackles for loss. His 2.2 TFL per game are a nationwide-best.

It's been quite a decorated stretch for the two-time All-Pac-12 honoree, who has collected national weekly honors following each of Utah's last three games. It includes Rose Bowl Game Pac-12 Player of the Week (Oct. 18), Lott IMPACT Trophy Player of the Week (Oct. 12) and Reese's Senior Bowl Defensive Player of the Week (Sept. 27).

Most recently, he is coming off of an impressive performance in Utah's comeback win over No. 18 Arizona State last Saturday at Rice-Eccles Stadium. Lloyd produced a game-high eight tackles, including four TFL (24 yards) and a career-high three sacks (19 yards), plus a pass breakup on the night. His four TFL tied a career-best, was the most by a Ute this season and tied for the most by a Pac-12 player this year. Lloyd has had no fewer than eight tackles each game this season and totaled 10.5 TFL in Utah's last four games.

The native of Chula Vista, California, owns 25 starts as a Ute in his 39 career games played. He entered Week 7 as the No. 3 rated linebacker in the country according to Pro Football Focus (overall grade 86.6).

Utah (4-2, 3-0 Pac-12) continues conference play this Saturday, Oct. 23, with another key matchup at Oregon State. Kickoff is slated for 5:30 p.m. MT in Corvallis, Oregon, with the game broadcast on Pac-12 Networks.
