Military Appreciation Day, special USS Salt Lake City Uniforms highlight clash of top 25 teams at Rice-Eccles Stadium
SALT LAKE CITY – The 23rd-ranked Utah Utes will wear special USS Salt Lake City uniforms for Military Appreciation Day on Saturday when they welcome third-ranked Oregon to Rice-Eccles Stadium for a 5:30 p.m. kickoff. The matchup between the Pac-12's two division leaders, both with 6-1 conference records, will be nationally televised on ABC.
The special uniforms worn by the Utes on Saturday recognize and honor veterans who served on the USS Salt Lake City, and their families. Among other intricate details that pay tribute to the decorated heavy cruiser that unofficially took part in more combat engagements than any other ship in the WWII Pacific Fleet, the back collar of the uniform bears the ship's famous nickname, "One Ship Fleet." Gates open at 3:30 p.m., and those who arrive early will receive 30 percent off all sales at stadium-operated concession stands from 3:30-4:30 p.m. To see locations and menus to plan your order before getting in line, please click here.
Ticket holders are encouraged to continue to download both their digital game tickets and parking passes to the wallet on their smartphone before leaving for the stadium, using the new digital ticketing and parking procedures this season. Further instructions are available at the link above, and in the sections below.
In accordance with state law, the University is not requiring attendees of University events to wear masks, or to prove vaccination status. However, consistent with the University's messaging, Utah Athletics is strongly encouraging fans to wear masks when attending games, in the interests of health and safety.
MILITARY APPRECIATION DAY
A number of tributes and recognitions will highlight the celebration of Military Appreciation Day at Rice-Eccles Stadium on Saturday. Among the tributes, a special coin that was used as currency on the USS Salt Lake City will be used for the coin toss, and two U.S. Navy jets will conduct a flyover of the stadium following the national anthem. The flight crew of the aircraft will be recognized on the field at halftime.
Also at halftime, Utah's two-time first-team volleyball All-American Dani Drews will be presented the 2020-21 Occie Evans Award by Utah Athletics. The award is presented annually to the outstanding senior female athlete in a team sport, based upon qualities of athletic ability, leadership and scholastic achievement. It was established by Evans and the Utah Athletics Department in 1978.
STADIUM GATES
To speed entry into the stadium, the new entrance at Gate L on the southeast corner, off 500 South, is equipped with the largest number of ticket scanners to handle a high volume of traffic. All who park in campus lots—especially east and just northeast of the stadium—would benefit from traveling by foot to 500 South, walking west on the sidewalk and approaching Gate L from the southeast. All who park in the west lot, but sit in either the east or south stands, also would benefit from entering through Gate L. A parking map with walking routes identified can be found here. TRANSIT
In addition, rides on UTA buses, TRAX and FrontRunner trains are free for ticketholders by displaying a valid game ticket, including the new postgame bus service from the stadium to the Court House TRAX station. For more information please visit UTA.com.
GAMEDAY FAN INFORMATION
To help inform fans and provide the best experience possible, Utah Athletics has launched a Gameday Information page that covers the most important topics related to fans' experience attending Utah Football games. The page includes links to informational videos and other resources, including Utah Tickets and the Rice-Eccles Stadium website. It can be found here.
DIGITAL TICKETS AND PARKING
Tickets and parking will be scanned on game day using the ticket holder's mobile device. They also may be transferred to others via email. To ensure a successful experience with the new digital ticketing system, fans are encouraged to have their tickets and parking passes downloaded to their wallet on either iPhone or Android devices, and ready to present upon arrival at the parking lot and stadium gates to expedite the entry process. Step-by-step instructions for the process have been delivered to season ticket holders via email and may be accessed online by logging in to a season ticket holder's account and selecting "Manage Tickets" from the pull-down menu, under Tickets.
It is also recommended that fans plan to arrive early to allow extra time for the entry process. Those who are not equipped to utilize digital ticketing are encouraged to contact their ticket office representative at 801-581-8849 to learn about alternative solutions.
PARKING LOTS
Parking lots open five hours before kickoff, with the exception of the Signature and tailgate lots, which open at 6 a.m. A parking map can be found here.
CASHLESS CONCESSIONS
To reduce touchpoints and increase efficiency with concessions sale, Rice-Eccles Stadium has implemented cashless concessions transactions at all stadium-operated concessions stands. All sales will be completed using either credit cards or mobile payment apps. Third-party vendors operating points-of-sale may allow cash transactions.
CLEAR BAG POLICY
Rice-Eccles Stadium will continue to utilize a clear-bag policy, and the stadium will introduce no-bag lines at all major gates to help expedite entry for those not bringing a bag into the stadium. Only clear bags, up to 12"x18", will be allowed inside the stadium. No bags, purses or duffels may be brought into the stadium.

The 69th consecutive sellout crowd at Rice-Eccles Stadium will see the Utes competing to try to clinch the Pac-12 South with a victory, and attempting to secure the 142nd victory as a head coach in the 17-year career of Kyle Whittingham to become the all-time head coaching wins leader for the Utah Football program.
