SALT LAKE CITY – The Utah men's tennis team closed out the Utah Invite #2 as they picked up three wins on Sunday.

The day started with doubles, where the duo of
Geremia Rossi and
Rian Ta earned a win over the pair from Utah State. Rossi and Ta played Christian Holmes and Javier Ruiz and battled an 8-6 victory.
Dylan Applegate and
Charlie Spina lost a hard-fought match to Stijn Paardekooper and Roko Savin, 8-5.

In singles, Applegate earned the first singles win of the day for the Utes as he defeated Matteo Savio of Weber State. Applegate earned a 6-3 win in the first set and was ahead 3-0 in the second set before Savio retired.

Continuing the winning ways for the Utes in singles was Rossi. He matched up with Christian Holmes and came away with a 6-4, 6-2 victory on the final day of the Utah Invite #2. This was his second single win of the tournament.

Spina faced off against Roko Savin of Utah State and dropped the first set, 6-0. Spina bounced back as he claimed a second set win, 6-4, forcing a third set. However, he would come up short as he was defeated 6-1 in the third set.

Ta was the day's final match when he faced Ruiz of Utah State. Ta battled and won the first match, 6-4. However, he would drop the next two and fall 4-6, 6-4, and 6-4 to close the tournament.

Utah returns to action on Friday, Nov. 4, when they participate in the Easley Memorial hosted by UNLV and the ITA Fall Nationals in San Diego, Calif.
