Elliss Wins Second Straight Pac-12 Weekly Honor

Utah defensive end takes home league’s Defensive Line Player of the Week
SAN FRANCISCO – For the second straight week, Utah junior defensive end Jonah Elliss has been named Pac-12 Defensive Line Player of the Week, the league announced on Monday. The FBS leader in sacks (7.5), Elliss had 2.0 sacks among his six total tackles and 2.5 TFL last Friday night at Oregon State. It made him the first Ute since 2016 to have two-plus sacks in consecutive games.

He also hurried the quarterback twice, including on Cole Bishop's interception during the second half. Elliss made two third-down stops against the Beavers, one being a sack.
The performance came on the heels of Elliss earning Walter Camp National Defensive Player of the Week and Pac-12 Defensive Line Player of the Week for his effort vs. UCLA. It included 10 tackles for Elliss in Week 4 vs. the Bruins, 5.0 TFL and 3.5 sacks.
Elliss is the first Pac-12 player to win consecutive Defensive Line Player of the Week nods since 2020. The last time a Utah player won consecutive Pac-12 weekly awards was in 2021, when quarterback Cameron Rising was named Offensive Player of the Week twice in a row.
