SALT LAKE CITY – Just four teams remain in the NFL's chase for the Vince Lombardi Trophy, and three clubs have at least one connection to the Utah Football program entering Conference Championship Weekend.
AFC Championship Game Kansas City at Baltimore – Sunday, 1 p.m. MT – CBS
The Ravens are in search of their third Super Bowl appearance in franchise history and first since winning Super Bowl XLVII after the 2012 season. Quarterback Tyler Huntley and safety Marcus Williams, who overlapped at Utah during the 2016 season, look to punch a ticket to Allegiant Stadium with the Ravens.
Huntley appeared in five games during the regular season, starting the regular season finale against Pittsburgh. He was 15-of-28 passing for 146 yards in that game against the Steelers, including a 27-yard touchdown. Against Miami the prior week, he completed his lone pass of the day for a 19-yard score as well. Though Huntley was active for the Divisional Round victory over Houston, he did not play.
During the regular season, Williams started all of his 11 appearances, anchoring a Ravens defense that led the NFL in scoring defense (16.5 ppg), sacks (60) and takeaways (31). He had two tackles and a pass breakup during last week's win against Houston.
Across the way, the Chiefs' coaching staff includes Alex Whittingham—now in his sixth season with the team and fifth as defensive quality control coach. Whittingham and the Chiefs will play in the AFC Championship Game for the sixth straight year, now the second-longest such streak in NFL history.
NFC Championship Game Detroit at San Francisco – Sunday, 4:30 p.m. MT – FOX
Punter Mitch Wishnowsky and the 49ers will look to secure another NFC crown on Sunday at Levi's Stadium; the 2016 Ray Guy Award winner and consensus All-American is in his fifth NFL season. He has booted 52 punts this season with a long of 67 yards in Week 2 against the LA Rams. His average for the season sits at 47.7 yards.
Last week against Green Bay, his four punts were highlighted by a 57-yard boot and two landing inside the Packers' 20-yard line. Wishnowsky also continues to hold on PATs and field goals for the 49ers.
Should the 49ers win on Sunday, they would be guaranteed a rematch of one of their previous two Super Bowl appearances; San Francisco faced Baltimore in Super Bowl XLVII and the Chiefs in Super Bowl LIV.
Bills Fall to Kansas City in Divisional Round
Buffalo tight end Dalton Kincaid had an outstanding rookie season come to a close last season as the Bills fell to Kansas City in a 27-24 heartbreaker. Kincaid caught all five of his targets for 45 receiving yards on the night. Two of his receptions went for first downs.
In the Bills' run to the Divisional Round, Kincaid contributed eight catches for 104 yards, plus a touchdown in Wild Card Weekend against Pittsburgh. His regular season line included 73 receptions for 673 yards and two touchdowns—his catch total reset the franchise record for most receptions by a rookie.
Pro Bowl Games Approaching
The 2024 NFL Pro Bowl Games presented by Verizon are coming up next week in Orlando. Pro Ute and Chicago Bears defensive back Jaylon Johnson was named to the NFC roster, with the multi-day competition kicking off on Thursday, February 1. That night will feature a skills showdown on ESPN from 5-6:30 p.m. MT, followed up by the Pro Bowl Games Championship on February 4. The championship begins at 1 p.m. MT and will be televised on ABC and ESPN.
