FINAL HOMESTAND
Utah is 14-5 in the Pac-12 Era in its final weekend slate at home and 3-4 in those final home games don't close out the regular-season. In years (2012-13, 2015-22) where Utah closed out the regular-season at home, the Runnin' Utes are 11-1. Conversely, Utah is 2-5 in the Pac-12 Era in those remaining regular-season games on the road to close out the year.
Utah has closed out its final homestand against the Bay Area teams two other times since joining the Pac-12, going a combined 3-1 with its only loss coming against Cal in the first year (2011-12).
LAST TIME OUT
Utah's trip to Boulder was not what it wanted with a fifth of its league games now remaining after the 89-65 loss to Colorado this past Saturday. Utah shot well in the first half, but also allowed the Buffs just as well – including 6-of-10 from the 3-point line to trail 43-34 at half. A shooting drought for the Utes saw Colorado win the second half 46-31 to secure the victory over Utah.
Gabe Madsen had 16 first-half points but was just held to 2 points in the second for a team-best 18 points.
Deivon Smith chipped in with 15 points, 6 rebounds and 5 assists.
UP NEXT
Utah will close out the 2023-24 home slate with Cal on Saturday, March 2, beginning at 7 p.m. (MT) inside the Jon M. Huntsman Center as Guy Haber and Don MacLean call the action on Pac-12 Networks. The Utes and Golden Bears missed each other earlier in the year with Utah just playing Stanford on the road and will battle Cal just once this season under first-year head coach Mark Madsen – who previously coached at Utah Valley.
LOOKING AHEAD
The Runnin' Utes will close out the regular-season on the road the following week in the PNW as it travels to Corvallis, Ore., for a 9 p.m. (MT) match-up on ESPNU against Oregon State on Thursday, March 7, inside Gill Coliseum. Utah will then head south to Tracktown USA for a Saturday, March 9, meeting with the Oregon Ducks to end the 2023-24 regular-season starting at 5 p.m. (MT) on Pac-12 Networks inside Matthew Knight Arena.
