Brant Kuithe Earns Athlon Sports Preseason All-America

SALT LAKE CITY – University of Utah Football tight end Brant Kuithe has been named a Preseason All-American by Athlon Sports, earning second-team honors.
Kuithe, a three-time All-Pac-12 tight end, will make his debut in the Big 12 this season with the rest of the Utes. The Katy, Texas, native will enter the season leading all active FBS tight ends in career receptions (148), receiving yards (1,882) and receiving touchdowns (16).
He has played in 51 career games with 26 starts, catching at least one pass in 32 straight games that he has appeared in. He has 30 career games with three-or-more catches, leading Utah in receptions in 2019 and 2020.
Battling back from injury, Kuithe is primed to be the top tight end in the FBS this season. In his last full season in 2021, Kuithe led the Utes in receiving yards with 611 on 50 catches, scoring six touchdowns.
He ranked second among Pac-12 tight ends in 2021 in total touchdowns, recording a season-high 118 yards against No. 3 Oregon, coming down with five catches (23.6 ypc). Prior to his season ending injury in 2022, he had three receiving touchdowns through four games, also ranking in the top-10 in the FBS among tight ends in total yards (204).
In 2019 as a sophomore, Kuithe made his name known, earning All-America honors after going off for 602 receiving yards on 34 catches, grabbing six touchdowns. He also had six rushes for 102 yards and three rushing scores.
He ranked second among FBS tight ends in 2019 in yards per reception (17.71) with his nine total touchdowns that season sitting in first among tight ends in the FBS.
