SALT LAKE CITY - The University of Utah Football program has officially kicked off the 2024 season with the start of fall camp on Monday. Throughout camp, UtahUtes.com will catch-up with returners, newcomers and coaches to find out what the Utes are talking about this fall.Â
Senior wide receiver Dorian Singer joined the Utes this spring after playing in 29 career games in Power Five football at Arizona (17 games, 2021-22) and USC (12 games, 2023). He recorded 24 catches for 289 yards (3 TD) in 2023 at USC, also finishing his career at Arizona with 1,406 yards on 84 receptions (6 TD).Â
Q: What is it like to be back at camp and have the team back together?
A: It's been great. Everybody's been excited, everybody's flying around and just excited to see where it goes from here.
Q: Is there a difference to the way you approach the start of camp compared to when you were a freshman or a sophomore?
A: Not really. Since high school, I've been taking everything in, not taking anything for granted. Since it is my last year, its embedded in my brain a little more, but I would say I approach the game the same, maybe just a few nuances here and there.
Q: How do you try to use this time over the next few weeks to be in the best position when the first game arrives?
A: I was ready two months ago. If someone's trying to get ready right now, they need to rethink football. I want to just keep building chemistry with the team, keep building chemistry with the quarterbacks. I'm hanging out with people on the defensive side, stuff like that, getting to know everybody because we're all a team at the end of the day.
Q: Is there anything you worked on in the lead up to the start of camp you wanted to get better at?
A: My speed and my acceleration, creating more separation and being an all-around player and a blocker. Play in the slot, play outside, just an all-around.
Q: What was the biggest difference between your perception of this program from the outside when Utah was an opponent compared to being here now and having the chance to work with these players and coaches?
A: From being an opponent to Utah, everyone has that grudge because Utah is always the team that nobody thinks is going to beat them, but they always beat them, but I see why people would say they hate Utah because of the work we put in and the dominance we assert.
