NEW ORLEANS – Utah Cross country sophomore and returning All-American
Anna Peters was named this week's female Division I USTFCCCA National Athlete of the Week after winning the individual title on Aug. 30 at the UVU Invitational.
This is the first time a Ute has earned USTFCCCA National Athlete of the Week honors since 2013 when the award began. Peters is also just the third female runner from the state of Utah to earn such honor at the Division I level in cross country.
Peters won the 3-mile race with a time of 16:25.8 at Scera Park while the next best finisher was 12.1 seconds behind her. The last time a Ute won an individual title was in 2022 when Emily Venters captured her first-career collegiate victory at the Griak Invitational to also help Utah win the team title.
Utah will next race at the Nuttycombe Invitational on Friday, Sept. 27, on the Zimmer Championship Course – which will serve as the host site for this year's NCAA Championships.
